International Lets FAQs

1. Are there any extras to pay?

All bills are included except for use of the washing machines and tumble dryers. These are operated via a coin meter and cost £1 per wash cycle and £1 per 30mins of drying time.

2. Do I have to Pay Council Tax or Utility Bills?

No. These are included in your rent.

3. Are our Belongings Insured?

We have buildings insurance to cover ourselves against the roof blowing off but we have no idea about people’s personal possessions and therefore insurance against loss or damage to such is an individual’s own responsibility.

4. What happens if we have a problem in the house (eg leaking washing machine) ?

Simply call, text, or e-mail us via maintenance@studentheaven.co.uk with your problem or concern and we’ll do our best to assess and rectify any problems within 24hrs. Whether we need a carpenter, locksmith, plumber, glazier or electrician we have the contacts for any situation. We also have a ‘superstore’ containing all manner of tools, equipment and materials, and a maintenance man whose only function is to ensure the upkeep of our houses 52 weeks of the year! This means most problems can be remedied within a very short space of time though please note that you are not living in a hotel and we wont be sending someone round to change a lightbulb!

5. How do I connect to the internet?

We’ll provide you with your password on arrival and you can connect immediately. Should you experience any problems with the service you can call our providers direct on 01323 648666 (option 4) and they’ll come and sort it.

6. Can I have a friend to stay?

Of course but not on a long term basis! There are strict limits on the number of people permitted to stay in any given house and in order to comply with local regulations it is important that we know who’s actually in them! We’ve no problem with a friend staying over on an occasional basis but if someone needs accommodation beyond a couple of nights they’ll have to rent their own room from us. Failure to advise of this will result in you losing your security deposit and being asked to leave.

7. Who Does the Cleaning?

You are expected to clean your own room and to wash up after yourself in the kitchen but we will send a cleaner round on a fortnightly basis to ensure that the communal areas such as showers and stairwells remain in a respectable condition.

8. When do I get my deposit monies back?

When you leave your room (in the condition that you found it!) and return the keys to us at the office.
